Default Which bow is best for me?

Alright I'm having a little problem on trying to decide which bow would be best for me....now I'm not looking for the most expensive bow just one that's better then the one I own....a faster bow would be good.

The bow I own

Zealous Azure Recurve Bow
health + 27
Damage: 15-28 (9 marks)
inscription: Strength and Honor
Damage +15 (health above 50)
Energy gain on hit: 1
Energy Regeneration:- 1

Here are my attributes if you need that info

13 expertise
3 Wilderness Survival
16 marksmanship

Any help would be really great I need a bow that can add health

best is to have more than one with you for different situations
a zealous and vampiric is a must
maybe a sundering <- "shudder" if you want
just hit a +30hp mod on that bow and it will do fine
wiki
here you've got some more information on the different bow types
^^
my ranger always has atleast 3 bows with him ^^

hope i could help

What is your most used preparation and do you use Pindown or CripShot?

More than one bow for the different builds you run and the situations you may encounter will do.

The one you use is pretty good already, if you need more health I'dd add a perfect +30HP Bow Grip to it... and maybe I'd just drop the Superior Rune and replace it with a Minor one.

I have 2 other bows but only 1 that I use with another build...

Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow
Fiery Composite Bow of Enchanting

Here is my Ranger only build

Barrage, Dual Shot, D-Shot, Savage Shot, SLoth Hunter's Shot, Res Sig, Lightning Reflexes, and Favorable Winds.

Where do I go to get a +30 HP Bow Grip?

All bows except bonus items collectors and greens can be salvaged for parts with an expert salvage kit.

Start by choosing the bows you have then everytime one drops in combat or comes from a chest ask yourself are the stats better than the one I own.

Take the lesser bow and salvage String Grip inscriptions etc using those parts you try to build a better bow.

Take any max damage bow add the string you want Icy Fiery Lightning Sundering Vampiric Zealous Crippling poison Silence etc.

To that add a grip + energy armour health etc

Then if it has an inscription slot customise that too.

Basic bow types
Flatbow best range a speed but highest arc of fire good for pulling
Recurve Lowest arc good for interrupting

you can find good guides on the net giving you all the statistics for all the bows.

I'm suprised no one said to customize the bow(s) you have. They don't sound terribly expensive, so the extra 20% damage is worth much more than the loss from not being able to resell them once customized. All of my bows are customized (as well as hero weapons), but to each his own.

To the OP
I didn't mention there is a failure rate with the expert salvage kit.

You will always get the part you choose to salvage but then there is a chance the rest will just become materials.
So sometimes you take one part then another and so on other times you take the first part and effectively destroy the rest leaving just wood probably.

A perfect salvage kit will not do this but they are expensive and not really needed till you are working on really good quality bows where you want to make the most of your salvaging.

I probably use Recurve Bows more than anything else. They fire slow, but you can always throw in [lightning reflexes] and I like the accuracy. I don't really use Zealous mods that much...just never seemed to need them. Usually use Sundering or Elemental Mods on Recurves.

Other bows I use are Vampiric Shortbow and a Long Bow for pulling. I hardly ever use Flatbows anymore.

I am sorry for my ignorance in this matter and I have looked elsewhere and could not find information about it, so if it is posted elsewhere, if you would kindly direct me there, I would appreciate it. My question is other than fighting warriors, and to be used in correlation with certain skills, what good does an elemental bow string do. If it does strike certain character for more damage, is there an easy way to determine what bowstring I should use for which area?

elemental bowstrings are good for builds that utilize fire damage, such as a burning arrow turret - see pvxwiki for build recommendations as a start...not sure what you mean by "other than fighting warriors", but elemental strings can increase and/or convert damage to elemental to be used in conjuction with other elemental damage skills as R/E, which will help against any profession. If warriors have weakened resistance to elemental damage, then this statement makes some sense. Along those lines then, Rangers will have the most defense against elemental damage, as they have inherent bonuses vs. elemental on their armor. Use the string that best complements the build, ex. dazed string with [Broad Head Arrow], barbed string with [Glass Arrows], etc... Also, your bow type should complement your build or action (such as longbow for pulling), ex. recurve for most PvE uses, flatbow for some, etc. Again, pvxwiki can get you started on some ideas as to which bow/build combo works well. Though all may not agree, I highly recommend customizing whatever bow you end up using. The unconditional 20% damage increase is better than any mod you can put on it. Unless you are running some gimicky build relying on mucho-energy (where you might need a +5e bow/inscription), I recommend always running a 15^50 modded/inscripted bow.

A warrior has a +20 armor to physical damage, and how I understand it, and I could be wrong, is that if you strike with an elemental bow string, it inflicts elemental damage instead of physical damage so the warrior does not have this +20 armor.

I would also agree that a 15^50% mod and customization is the way to go. All my bow also have a +30 health bow grip on them. I do have one bow which has a +5 energy and an enchanting bow grip on it, for some builds I used to use, but I have not used that bow in a very long time.

The only things I change are the bow types, and the strings. I use a long bow for pulling in Normal mode and a flatbow for pulling in Hard Mode. I use the flatbow for pulling in HM due to its long flight time, giving me the chance to run back to safety. I use the longbow in NM due to its shorter flight time, because I do not want to run break aggro before I get back to my group.
I use a recurve bow for general fighting due to its accuracy.

To be completly honest when I am the puller I usually just use the longbow all the time due to my never remembering to switch back to my recurve bow, however if there is another ranger and I am not pulling I will always use the recurve.

As for bow strings, I am still undecided and am still experimenting with different strings, or I would help you out more with that.

To echo what's been said above , you'll need a handful of bows (of different types) to help you out.

You've got a recurve bow , that should help when you interrupt, it does fire more slowly but is more "accurate". Best bow type imo A poisonous recurve or silencing recurve is great as far as mods are concerned.

The flatbow you have can be used with your barrage build , it fires at a faster rate so you'll like it. Also works really well with builds utilizing Read the Wind.

If possible , try to get a zealous flatbow , should be more useful than the poisonous mod on your current flatbow.

As for the health issue , try getting a hp+30 mod for your bows and using a minor or major rune instead of the superior rune.

Hope this helped in some way. ^.^
